KQRS morning show host Tom Barnard announced today that he going to rehab. (Full Story)
Barnard told his listeners that drinking wine and abusing sleeping pills have become routine and he wants help. Barnard admitted to having anger issues.
“I don’t want to be pissed off… I just don’t want to be angry anymore,” Barnard told listeners.
It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to many of us loyal listeners who have listened to him over the years. Barnard seems more negative than ever and the quality of the show has gone down in my opinion. He can just be flat out mean, and his on-air co-hosts take the brunt of it. Listen to them tip-toe around him, and you’ll notice it too.
It appears Barnard started to come unglued recently on Twitter too. A look at his Twitter feed @radiotombernard shows him going off on Mark Dayton, the Pohlad family, and his own station management. Fun comments to read (many I agree with), but you can tell the guy is hurting. See below.
Tom Barnard said he would try treatment on an out-patient basis for a week, and if that didn’t work he would consider an in-patient program that would require a leave of absence.
I hope he gets the help he needs and comes back stronger than ever. Twin Cities radio would not be the same without him.
